DADT and MCMJ its 2010 Get with it.

As many of you know the Federal Courts have said that DADT (Don't Ask, Don't Tell) is Unconstitutional and has issued an injunction. President Obama appears to be leaning toward appealing this ruling even though he himself has stated that DADT was/is an unfair and outdated policy. Below is the article discussing this issue and, a Response from one reader that I think sums this whole issue up.

The most dangerous enemy of any military force isn’t the one you face in the field, but the divisive psychology of dissent and distrust which have to be actively eradicated at every level down to a personal one. The military requires personal dedication and devotion to discipline, duty, focus, professionalism and trust. These have to be the buzzwords and ideas that have to be actively promoted in a military culture. No matter what culture you come from or what cultural beliefs you adhere to, those beliefs need to be left at the door and a military culture and mindset have to be adopted. You have to know and trust that the guy next to you has your back, and he has to be able to trust you to do the same in return when the rubber meets the road. This requires a fraternal mindset of brotherhood and that’s how you have to regard each other. If you’re distracted worrying about whether the guy next to you is wearing blue or pink underwear, guess who’s at fault? Here’s a hint. It’s not him. He’s probably doing his job. You’re the one who needs to check yourself and figure out where your mind is at, get your head in the game and on the task at hand. Worry about your job and not his. If you let yourself become that distracted and worried then you’re the weak link that others need to worry about, and anybody who uses the military culture as a platform to air and voice their dissent are only spreading a disease that will eat a unit like cancer from the inside out. Anybody who actively promotes laying down on the job as a form of protest to air their personal grievances and objections or incites others to do the same is guilty of dereliction of duty at the very least. Anybody who knows anything about the UCMJ knows the military is not a democracy. If you want to protest, do everyone a favor and leave. It is every service members duty to have each other’s back. If you wouldn’t treat your family the way you treat another service member, you need to stop and think about it because they have to be able to trust you the same way. One day your life might depend on that “@#$%” or “queer” you’re so worried about. This doesn’t even require intelligence. It should be common sense.
